2001 Tour Summary
| The 2001 Lightfoot
touring year
saw him doing 50 concerts in 44 different cities beginning in Florida
in
mid-March, continuing through the upper mid-west and east coast until
mid-May,
another leg in southern Ontario and out west in August and a final
October
swing on the west coast, finishing for the year in San Diego, CA on
October
14. For the second year starting in 1998 the springtime Massey Hall
stint
was moved from March to May, again with successful results.
Notable additions to this year's setlists included All The Lovely Ladies and Let It Ride, both of which received quite regular play. Summertime Dream was played throughout Florida in March, but was absent the rest of the year. In My Fashion, a mainstay for over 20 years, was reduced to only a few scattered performances this year. Openers were split between Sea of Tranquility and Triangle, with All The Lovely Ladies serving the opening chore once. Encores included Old Dan's Records, Cold On The Shoulder, Early Morning Rain, Canadian Railroad Trilogy and Blackberry Wine. Two new songs were added to the rotation, Shellfish and The No Hotel. They both were played regularily and were well received. Nighttime, introduced late in 2000, was played early in the year but dropped during the late summer and fall concerts. There were 54 different songs performed during the year. Looking at the album breakdown, there seems to be a more consistent sampling from each album than has been the case recently, however Back Here On Earth and Endless Wire were again shut out, with Summer Side Of Life receiving but one song played, Cotton Jenny. |
SONG
SUMMARY BY ALBUM
Here are
how the setlists break down by album.
| All of this information is based on a sample of 27 out of a possible 50 setlists that were available for the tour, so if anyone heard anything that isn't listed here, I'd be more than happy to add the song to the list. In brackets following the song is the number of times the song appeared in the 27 setlists to give you an idea of their frequency. |
