Canadian folk music legend Gordon Lightfoot has been invited to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman, the Ampersand has learned.

Mr. Lightfoot, will perform a yet-to-be-decided song at an October 4 taping, which will then air Friday, October 8. Mr. Letterman is not expected to interview the 71-year-old-singer.

A spokesperson for Mr. Lightfoot’s production company, said it will be his first appearance on the show.

The stop comes during Mr. Lightfoot’s tour of the United States.
