BABY STEP BACK
- 1982
This was the most highly produced
of the four videos from Shadows. It shows Lightfoot looking not unlike
his Harry Tracy character, entering a smoke filled room where the band
is seated around a card game and Lightfoot joins in and ultimately cleans
the table and walks off with the very desirable dance hall girl. Black
and white.
IN MY FASHION
- 1982
A nice video. It goes
back and forth between Lightfoot with his guitar singing the song and old
photos showing Lightfoot from his youth through to the present.
SHADOWS
- 1982
Lightfoot with guitar, wearing
a red satiny shirt, singing the song.
BLACKBERRY WINE - 1982
Lightfoot and the band are
shown drinking "Blackberry Wine" from containers of all shapes and sizes.
TEARS ARE NOT
ENOUGH - 1985
Canada's contribution to the
Africa famine crisis in 1985. A comparable effort to the We Are The World
collaboration in the US. Lightfoot sings the song's opening line and joins
in the group choral sections with other Canadians such as Neil Young, Joni
Mitchell and many more. Lightfoot is interviewed as he entered the studio
and is seen in the vocal booth as he recorded his lines with David Foster
at the controls over the course of the feature length video. Foster is also
interviewed and talks extensively about why he thought it was so important
for Lightfoot to be the first voice singing on this record.
LIVE IN RENO
- 2001
Lightfoot's first and so far
only concert video was shot at the Pioneer Theatre in Reno, NV on April
19, 2000. Set list includes Don Quixote; I'll Prove My Love; The House You
Live In; Sundown; Carefree Highway; Restless; Blackberry Wine; For Loving
Me/Did She Mention My Name; The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald; Waiting
For You; Fading Away; Rainy Day People; Shadows; If You Could Read My Mind;
A Painter Passing Through; Make Way For The Lady; Early Morning Rain; Baby
Step Back; Song For A Winter's Night; Canadian Railroad Trilogy; Old Dan's
Records; Cold On The Shoulder. Available on VHS and DVD.
INSPIRATION LADY - 2004
Lightfoot sings and plays guitar in a large windowed, softly
lit room. Lightfoot's sequence is interwoven with montage scenes depicting
"inspiring" ladies - painting a large canvas, figure skating on an outdoor
pond, playing violin. Each lady shown is progressively younger as the song
progresses until we finally see a baby girl just learning to walk. A very
well done video befitting this strikingly beautiful song!
